DBS for Depression

The goal of the study is to address the unmet need of TRD patients by identifying brain networks critical for treating depression and to use next generation precision DBS with steering capability to engage these targeted networks. The study's goal will be achieved through 3 specific aims: 1. Demonstrate device capability to selectively and predictably engage distinct brain networks 2. Delineate depression-relevant networks and demonstrate behavioral changes with network-targeted stimulation 3. Demonstrate that chronic DBS using steered, individualized targeting is feasible and safe for reducing depressive symptoms

Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation for Attention and Memory

This clinical trial aims to evaluate whether transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS), a non-invasive brain stimulation method, can improve attention and memory in veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and depression and/or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The study seeks to answer two main questions: 1. Can active taVNS improve attention and memory compared to sham (placebo) stimulation? 2. Does taVNS affect heart rate variability (HRV)? taVNS delivers a gentle electrical current to the vagus nerve through electrodes placed on the ear, targeting brain areas involved in attention and memory without requiring surgery. This study uses a crossover design, meaning all participants will experience two sessions: one with active taVNS and one with sham stimulation. The sham session feels similar but does not deliver actual stimulation, allowing researchers to compare the two and understand taVNS's effects on the brain. In a single visit, participants will: * Complete eligibility screening (questionnaires and vital signs). * Undergo two sessions (one active and one sham), randomly assigned. * Perform attention tasks before and after each session. * Have their heart rate monitored during the sessions. The findings will help determine whether taVNS could be an effective treatment for improving attention and memory in veterans with TBI.

Physiological and Psychological Effects of Music Therapy in the Pregnant Woman and Fetus

To evaluate the effects of music therapy in the care of antepartum mothers admitted for long-term hospitalization due to the high-risk status of their pregnancy. The investigators speculate that mothers who receive music therapy will be more successful in forming positive coping habits, bonding with their infant, and increasing the length of incubation during their pregnancy. Furthermore, there is no research that correlates music therapy applied to stress reduction, increased coping, and increased caregiver-infant bonding prior to birth within one protocol. However, there is a significant amount of research supporting music therapy efficacy with neonatal intensive care unit infants and caregiver bonding post-partum as well as improved physiological signs of stress in infants in the post-partum period.

Gamma Oscillations as a Prognostic Marker for Ketamine Therapy in Treatment Resistant Depression

The core objective of this study is to enhance the translational potential of this electroencephalogram (EEG) biomarker by using ketamine(KET)-induced gamma potentiation as a prognostic marker of 4-week treatment outcome. Previous research focused exclusively on KET-induced gamma band potentiation (GBP) in the context of a single infusion. Our study design captures the clinical variation associated with real-world treatment resistant depression (TRD) patients and allows us to analyze the relative importance of GBP to antidepressant symptom reduction across the induction phase of treatment. If successful, it provides a compelling rationale for a larger prospective investigation of gamma dynamics as a moderator of outcome to varied TRD therapies which impact the balance of cortical excitation and inhibition.

Survivorship Care for Women Living With Ovarian Cancer: (POSTCARE-O)

This study will enroll 120 women living with ovarian cancer following completion of initial treatment. Our objective is to test an intervention designed to provide support during the survivorship transition for this population, who live with a high degree of morbidity related to the illness and its treatment as well as a high risk of recurrence. Study participants will be randomly assigned to receive survivorship care using the POSTCare-O process or usual care. The primary outcome is quality of life at 12 weeks after intervention.

Self Neuro-modulation Therapy for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) With Anhedonia

The purpose of this research is to learn more about a new treatment for individuals with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) with heightened symptoms of anhedonia (i.e. loss of pleasure or interest in activities). The treatment is called Prism, and it is a software device intended for a novel form of neurofeedback training to be used in a clinic setting. During this study, the subject will use different techniques to measure brain activities, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electroencephalography (EEG).

A Study to Assess Adverse Events and Change in Disease Activity of Oral Icalcaprant in Adult Participants With Bipolar I or II Disorder

Bipolar disorder is a severe chronic mood disorder that affects up to 4% of the adult population and 1.8% of the pediatric population in the United States. This study will assess how safe and effective Icalcaprant is in treating adult participants with bipolar I or II disorder. Icalcaprant is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of depressive episodes in adult participants with bipolar I or II disorder. Participants are placed in 1 of 3 groups, called treatment arms. There is a 1 in 3 chance that a participant will be assigned to a placebo. Around 195 adult participants with bipolar I or II disorder will be enrolled in approximately 35 sites across the United States of America. Participants will receive oral capsules of Icalcaprant or matching placebo once daily for 6 weeks, with a 4-week safety follow-up period. There may be a higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.

A Study to Assess Change in Disease Activity and Adverse Events of Oral Icalcaprant in Adult Participants With Major Depressive Disorder

Major depressive disorder (MDD; depression) is a mood disorder that causes a continued feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It is a common and serious illness that can cause both emotional and physical symptoms such as feelings of sadness, irritability, not being able to focus on activities, tiredness, changes in eating habits, and aches and pains. This study will assess the changes in disease activity and adverse events of oral Icalcaprant in adult participants with major depressive disorder who are currently experiencing a major depressive episode (MDE). Icalcaprant is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of depressive episodes in adult participants with major depressive disorder. Participants are placed in 1 of 3 groups, called treatment arms. There is a 1 in 3 chance that a participant will be assigned to placebo treatment. Around 195 adult participant with major depressive disorder will be enrolled in approximately 35 sites in North America. Participants will receive oral capsules of Icalcaprant or matching placebo once daily for 6 weeks, with a 30-day safety follow-up. There may be a higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.

Telehealth Behavioral Activation for Teens

Behavioral activation is one such empirically supported intervention. Derived from cognitive-behavioral therapy, a well-established treatment for depression, behavioral activation uses psychoeducation and skill-building to increase an individual's engagement in valued and enjoyable activities (e.g., socializing with family and friends, exercising, participating in a hobby) in order to improve depressive symptoms. Research has shown that behavioral activation is an effective intervention for depressed youth. Additionally, it has been shown as a promising intervention that can be conducted in a brief, virtual format and can be effectively implemented by both trained clinicians and trained, non-licensed interventionists. This project will provide Behavioral Activation for youth (12-17) experiencing depression or suicidal ideation who are currently enrolled in the Youth Depression Suicide Network study in Texas.
